I finished a book!!

At Leilani's advice, I decided to read an Ann Rinaldi book set in the historical era of the Revolutionary War. It started out a bit slow, describing the characters and events carefully, but the climax is well worth the wait! I was riveted for at least 5 chapters. Fortunately Peter was riveted at the same time (his blocks seemed interesting for a change)!

I found it remarkable how historically accurate her characters were. Even though some or most of the plot was fictional, it all could have happened. Very believable. I found myself understanding better the challenges General Washington and his comrades faced at that time. I am increasingly amazed that the United States managed to earn its freedom and has developed into the influential nation it is today.
