i've never been good with change

change is like a milkshake
its good and its bad
you like it for one minute
then you realize what you had

the temperature is sweeter
with apples getting ripe
goodbye to hot fudge sundaes
and hello to candy-cane stripe

time for changing schedules
sometimes adding jobs
at first it seems exciting
but the time it gently robs

we will get used to it someday
but for a minute more
i stand here feeling discontent
and wishing for 'before'
