Day Twenty-Three / Time Saving Tips

More often than not, I'm running around the kitchen in my underwear trying to put together breakfast and his lunch at the same time. I'd like to say that I plan ahead like an incredible mom. Sometimes I do. But more often, I don't.

That said, here are some ways I would plan ahead if I did:
  • Make a meal plan for the week/month ahead {plan as far in advance as you can!}.
  • Make a grocery list using your meal plan, so your fridge and cupboards are stocked with just what you need.
  • Make muffins, scones, quick breads, waffles, pizza, hummus, crackers, etc. the day {or two} before.
  • Make trail mix, fruit leather, granola bars ahead of time and stock your pantry.
  • Make soups ahead of time and store in just-the-right-amount containers in the fridge. Simply reheat in the morning and put in their thermos.
  • Make salads ahead of time and refrigerate.
  • Have a cheater list of easy to make lunch ideas on the fridge in case life gets away from you and you don't follow the plan.
  • Involve your child in the planning process!
