Things I Want to Keep in My Freezer | Weekending

when we want to feel love and really it is a choice ||
"On the whole, God’s love for us is a much safer subject to think about than our love for Him. Nobody can always have devout feelings: and even if we could, feelings are not what God principally cares about. Christian Love, either towards God or towards man, is an affair of the will. If we are trying to do His will we are obeying the commandment, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God.’ He will give us feelings of love if He pleases. We cannot create them for ourselves, and we must not demand them as a right. But the great thing to remember is that, though our feelings come and go, His love for us does not. It is not wearied by our sins, or our indifference; and, therefore, it is quite relentless in its determination that we shall be cured of those sins, at whatever cost to us, at whatever cost to Him." from Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis

things I love to have on hand in the freezer ||
Corn -- to throw in this soup and these enchiladas Rhubarb and Blackberries -- for this yummy crisp Applesauce -- because we eat it with almond butter and honey on toast and by itself too Pesto -- to make pasta and pizza so much better Plums -- to continue the kuchen tradition

We didn't preserve enough of these this summer/fall and I'm regretting it! We put things like travel and buying a home and moving and running a half marathon at a higher priority. Next year -- must store up more food for the winter! #notetoself

weekend shares ||
Eating: This chili with a bit of cheese and sour cream. Throw in some chips and it's taco soup! I posted this recipe over three years ago -- so check out the photos for a #throwback! Wow.
Pinning: This holiday mantel idea that I love. Wondering if I can pull it off.
Enjoying: Early morning dark and rainy runs by myself. Truly.
Anticipating: Time to sew up a quilt a bit like this one.
Thankful for: My boys' classroom teachers who are motivational and fun. And their classmates who play football with them and provide the friendly competition my boys need.
Feeling: More rested after several days of putting self-care at a higher priority.
