Valley Forge, Pennsylvania
I just spent the winter with a young girl in the Revolutionary Army's backyard. Actually, they were in her backyard. This was a great piece of historical fiction, written in the form of a diary. The horrors of poorly clothed, poorly fed (poorly everything) soldiers were not hidden from this 12-year-old. She saw it all. Again, I found this book to be quite historically accurate. I'm still plowing through Saratoga, but I'm finding it to be the details behind the story. These shorter novels are filling in the human interest gaps quite nicely.
