{reallife} Nerves
The kids are getting on my nerves.
The messy house is getting on my nerves.
My hair is getting on my nerves.
Scotch tape in the hands of children is getting on my nerves {I hid it again}.
I'M getting on my nerves.
Maybe I should move my nerves.
I could put them all in a bucket and save them for Sunday evening's presentation. I'll need all the nerves I can muster in order to get-up-front-and-talk-about-passion-and-service-and-my-love-for-Ethiopia. In front of people. Well, I hope. :) It's not something I do very often. Really, never. Unless you count talking to two and three years old kiddos every week.....but I'm never sure if they're even listening.
This week has been all about escaping outside when the sun is shining to play with awesome neighbor friends. We leave the house behind, toys all over, and go get muddy {well, the kids do} and we laugh a lot. It's an escape from real life. Well -- the more we do it, the more it becomes real life. But then we come home to our mess. And I get overwhelmed and end up escaping again. I've been reading this book about a girl who goes to Russia to teach English. It's hilarious, not necessarily because of the content, but because of the author's writing style. So I've been escaping to Russia a bit too.
But I'm thinking it's about time to face the music and tackle the bathrooms and that master bedroom closet.
Usually I wait until I've gone shopping and have a batch of new seasonal clothes to add to the mix -- then it's time to clean and organize the whole thing. But that shopping part hasn't happened yet. And really, I'm not chomping at the bit.
I've got sunshine to enjoy and kids to take to the park.
And so it always is -- this ebb and flow of life. The constant striving for balance in all things. The listening to voices -- nature calling louder on those sunny days, while the clutter on the floor drops to a whisper.
Today's clutter was yelling, so I had to deal with it. I couldn't hear the other thoughts in my brain.
Confusion is my least favorite place to be -- I really like a spot of silence to be able to process all those whirling thoughts, time to get things straight again in my little brain. So I must. It goes to the top of my list.
Otherwise the whole day is unproductive. In a productivity sort of way.
Would you believe me if I said it snowed yesterday?
How 'bout now? Yes -- that's a snowman in their front yard. With a blossoming tree behind it.
So -- I'm happy to say the clutter beast has been killed moved into the master bedroom. Cause I'm going to organize that closet soon anyway, right?
And my nerves have been stowed securely under the seat in front of me. Ready for takeoff.
We'll see if I survive the flight. I'll let you know on Monday.
