Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area in the Winter
I'm sure this campground is lovely all year round, but winter was served up on a golden platter this weekend. The snow was perfect and there was lots of it! The bathrooms were nearby with hot showers! And there were hills for sledding and forests to explore and stars in the night sky. The cabins are on the small side, but a family of four can sleep comfortably. And what a treat to have a stove and oven -- we ate well!
Trip Details:
Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area -- Find it near Meacham, Oregon, half-way between Pendleton and La Grande on I-84.
Groomed trails for cross-country skiing are not far away! Go eastbound on I-84 for nine miles and look for the Meacham Divide Sno-park at Exit 243. The snow was coming down way too fast for us and only two of our four were outfitted with skis, but we'll be back!
We stayed in our heated cabin for two nights courtesy of Oregon State Parks in exchange for these photos! What a great deal! And we'll be recommending this spot for years to come.
